The Black Death

00:19 Feb 11 2013
Times Read: 428

People in the seventeenth century did not know what caused the plague and many believed it was a punishment from God. They did realize that coming into contact with those infected increased their risk of contracting the disease. Cures and preventative measures were not at all effective. Most patients were quarantined away from those who were not infected, such locations as Poveglia Island off the coast of Venice, Italy.
